Greetings from Flow Circus: Just when you thought it was time to relax after a busy summer, along comes Irene! Our area of North Carolina just saw rain and wind, but unfortunately, many of the regions we work with saw major devastation. Hopefully your libraries, camps, and homes have withstood her wrath and you have the luxury of electricity once again.

The storm reminded us of the important role libraries play in so many communities. We saw many Facebook updates posted by libraries inviting folks to come in to use internet, charge phones, and of course, find books to entertain while the power was out. Libraries are essential community resources and we shouldn't need natural disasters to remind of us of that. Thanks for all that you do.

Playfully yours,
Paul & Dawn

NEW VIDEO: Summer Reading Program 2011 Highlights: For the third year in a row, we have created a video with clips and photos from the over 70 library shows Paul performed this summer. It is our way of thanking you for hosting One Toy, Many Stories and providing you with another opportunity to laugh. Feel free to post it to your website, blog, or Facebook page for your patrons to watch.

Get your cup of coffee or afternoon snack, visit the Flow Circus Library Page, and enjoy the show. For SRP highlight videos from past years, visit our Video Gallery.

If we weren't able to schedule your library for SRP 2011, take a look at our upcoming tour dates listed at the end of the newsletter. Email Dawn if you would like to schedule a visit for the 2011-12 school year.

FlowCircusKids.com - Creating Lasting Impact: This past spring, we created FlowCircusKids.com as a resource to extend the impact of our visits to libraries, camps, schools, and afterschool programs. The site includes information about skill toys from around the world, instructional videos, a reading list, resources for programmers, and activities encouraging families to play together. We are thrilled to report that since May 1st, there have been over 1000 visits to the site! Visitors are staying for an average of 5 minutes exploring the wonderful world of skill toys.

Let us know if you have done any of the activities or have any suggestions for additional skill toys for the site. We will continually add to the site and make it available to anyone interested in learning more about Skill Toys from Around the World.

New Survey for SRP 2011: We want to hear from you. We know that you are all busy people and we want to make working with Flow Circus as easy and efficient as possible for you. Over the years, we have used your requests to create resources like our promotional posters and the press kit page of our website. For the first time, we have put together a short survey that we will be emailing to libraries that we worked with this summer. When you receive the email, please take a few minutes to let us know what worked and what we might be able to add to create an even more successful Summer Reading Program for your community.

Thank you in advance for your time.

October Dates Available during Northeast Tour: The full upcoming tour schedule is listed below, but we wanted to let you know that we have dates still available during two upcoming Northeast tours in October. Please share this information with any colleagues that might be interested in hosting Flow Circus.

Email Dawn if you are interested in a school or library performance, teen workshop, or staff training for any of these dates.
