Greetings from Flow Circus: Happy Halloween. Costumes, candy, and creepy stories…..oh my! Now it’s time for the holiday season to launch into full gear. We will be starting the month of November visiting family and friends in the Northeast and then touring schools and libraries in New York. Read on to find out what else we have in store for November.

Playfully yours,

Paul & Dawn

New Video: Just Paul Show: Many of you have had the chance to see Paul perform at a library, school, or camp. In addition to these venues, he also performs a 100% clean comedy show for adult audiences at corporate holiday parties, Chamber of Commerce banquets, and professional conferences.

We recently completed a new promo video with clips from his corporate performances. Sit back, relax, and enjoy a few laughs. Email Paul for more information.

Skyping about Fundama: You may remember that we created the Play Fundama website this spring to provide cheap and easy DIY skill toy activities for librarians, teachers, and camp counselors. We were thrilled to receive the following email recently from Mary Alice Hudson, Media Specialist at Cape Fear Elementary School in North Carolina:

I have been doing a Fundama Club with 25 5th graders at my school.  We meet once a week for 50 minutes and we have the best time!  They absolutely LOVE making and playing with the toys.  I am so glad I found your fantastic program and website!  So far we’ve made the basic, freestyle, six and twist.  They are really excited about the ladder and plan to make Paul’s party before making their own parties.  Our final goal is to go on our school’s morning show and show off our toys and talent.   Thank you so much for this great resource. We’re having a wonderful time!

Paul’s videos have made him a celebrity with the students! So we have arranged to Skype with the students so they can show us the Fundama that they have designed and created. Paul’s also hoping to challenge them to a game of Six. Let us know if you have been making Fundama with your students and would like to set up a Skype session with Paul.

Holiday Gifts and End-of-Year Budgets: It’s that time of year! If you are looking for creative gift ideas for your tween/teen or if you are lucky enough to have money left over in your budget that needs to get spent before the end of the year, visit FlowCircusStore.com

Juggling props, magic, balloon twisting supplies, and instructional books/DVDs can be found here. If you don’t already have it in your collection, we recommend that libraries have at least one copy of The Complete Juggler: All the Steps from Beginner to Professional by Dave Finnigan. In addition to 3 ball juggling, this book introduces plate spinning, flower sticks, diabolo, and tips for putting together routines.

If you have any questions about store items, contact Paul at (919) 426-9157 or paul@flowcircus.com.

Just Paul in Raleigh: Kick the holidays off right with a fun-filled performance for the whole family. Paul Miller presents his one man show, Just Paul at the Holly Springs Cultural Center on November 20, 2010, at 3:00 & 7:00pm.  In addition to Paul’s performance, this show will feature comedian & ventriloquist Ron Johnson.

Paul doesn’t have an opportunity to play locally often, so be sure to get your tickets before the small theater sells out! Click here for ticket information.

Giving Back to the Community: Flow Circus loves having the opportunity to donate our time and skill toys to support community events. Wake Forest Unplugged encouraged families in our community to unplug from their televisions, computers, phones, and video games for a weekend and engage in healthier and more active pursuits. The weekend ended on Sunday with games and a free concert at Joyner Park. We knew we wanted to be a part of this event and offered to teach skill toys to “kids” of all ages including our mayor! Below are pictures that ran in our local paper from the event.

October also celebrated Lights on Afterschool a national event to bring attention to the importance of afterschool programs for children, families, and communities. On October 21st, we spent the afternoon at the John Avery Boys & Girls Club in Durham, North Carolina teaching club members juggling and skill toys. The kids had a blast and can’t wait for us to come back.

This fall we are once again volunteering to support the Gobbler’s Run 5K to support the Wake Forest Boys and Girls Club. Last year the event raised $20,000 for the club and we are expecting an even bigger turnout this year. It is a wonderful family event that has inspired many families to start their Thanksgiving holiday in a healthy, active way.
