February 2010 Newsletter

Greetings from Flow Circus
YMCA Campfire Conference
Juggling, Magic, & Balloon Camps
Make A Splash!

As we look out the window at the fresh blanket of snow that has coated North Carolina, we are in our offices thinking about SUMMER! We know it is on the mind of camp directors, library staff, and parents everywhere as you plan exciting activities and adventures for Summer 2010. Please feel free to contact us if we can help add a little playfulness to your programs.

In the meantime, have a playful winter!
Paul & Dawn

YMCA Campfire Conference: In January, we had the opportunity to return to the YMCA Campfire Conference in Black Mountain, NC. Summer camp staff from all over the southeast came together to share ideas, develop skills, and play together. Through our juggling, skill toy, and balloon workshops, we offered counselors new activity ideas to build camper self-esteem, forge friendships among campers, and most importantly make camp a memorable experience.

For more information on the specialty camps, workshops, and staff trainings Flow Circus can offer your summer camp, visit www.flowcircus.com/camps.

Juggling, Magic, & Balloon Camps: For the 8th year in a row, Flow Circus will partner with Cary Academy Summer Quest Program to offer Juggling, Magic, & Balloon Sculpting specialty camps for kids 9-14 in the Raleigh area. Due to a busy tour schedule, we will be offering the following limited camp schedule:

July 12-16 (9am - noon) - Beginner Juggling, Magic, & Balloons
July 12-16 (1-4pm) - Beginner Juggling, Magic, & Balloons

If your child has taken the beginner camp and would like to repeat it again this year, we recommend taking the afternoon camp if possible (we will try to add new magic & sculptures). Summer Quest will be having a Camp Fair on February 10th from 6-8pm so that you can meet instructors and learn about their offerings. For more information, visit the Summer Quest website. Please let others know & stop by our table to say hello!

If your camper has aged out of our camps or has already taken several of our camps, we recommend attending one of the area juggling or magic clubs to continue developing their skills:

NC Juggling Club: Monday evenings 6:30-9pm @ Method Road Community Center (Raleigh)
Young Magicians Club: 1st Saturday of the Month; visit Raleigh Magic News for more information

Make A Splash: At libraries across the United States, families will Make A Splash and teens will Make Waves this summer. Flow Circus has been busy brainstorming fresh ideas for a new 2010 SRP performance. In addition, our juggling and skill toy workshops provide a unique program idea for tweens & teens. They will be making wave patterns while juggling and making waves as they share the new skills learned at the library with friends.

For now, we are busy booking shows/workshops with libraries from Connecticut to Alabama. For more information on our tour schedule, visit the Flow Circus Blog or contact Dawn at dawn@flowcircus.com or (919) 604-3462.
