Fall is here & change is in the air! September was a reflective month of special projects, planning, and catching up after a busy summer. That all changes as we begin a month full of travel and exciting new opportunities conducting staff development workshops, showcasing for libraries, performing in schools, and meeting with potential partners interested in the Skill Toy Program.

Hope this fall brings wonderful new opportunities to you and your family.

Playfully yours,
Paul & Dawn

Obama Kendama Goes to the White House: Earlier this month we decied to share a little playfulness with the White House! Artist Christopher Bordenca painted President Obama's face on the 'head' of a kendama and we sent it along with a letter advocating of behalf of afterschool providers. We know that it is a never ending battle for support and funding for afterschool programs, libraries, parks and recreation departments, museums, and other out of school providers so we thought we might help bring some attention to the critical hours of 3-6pm.

To see pictures of the kendama and read the letter, visit Obama Kendama Goes to the White House. Feel free to share this link with anyone you think might be interested. We'll let you know if we hear anything in response!!

New Teen Programs Postcard: This summer we had the opportunity to offer teen workshops at libraries from Alabama to Connecticut. Whether it is juggling, skill toys, or balloon twisting, we found the response is always the same - energy, enthusiasm, and laughter! By introducing an activity that most teens have never tried before, we level the playing field and allow them each to feel success. Our workshops also provide an opportunity to reinforce important 21st centurs skills such as problem solving and creative thinking.

Take a look at our new postcard describing Flow Circus Teen Programs here or contact Dawn if you would like a hard copy sent to you or a colleague. Email dawn (at) flowcircus (dot) com or call (919)604-3462.

Showcase Season Underway: Flow Circus loves going to showcases! Showcases provide the opportunity to continue to develop relationships, meet potential new partners, share knowledge/resources with other performers, and find out current issues/concerns facing libraries and schools so that we can better adapt our future programs. We participated in the South Carolina Arts Commission Arts in Education Booking Conference this past week and look forward to a few others this month:

Nassau Library System's Annual Performer's Showcase - October 5th
Pennsylvania Library Association Conference - October 19th
YMCA Campfire Conference - January 10-13th

If your local/state arts council, library system, or PTA would like to have Flow Circus showcase or offer workshops, please contact Dawn (at) flowcircus (dot) com or (919)426-3462.
