New Skill Toy Loaner Kit Available for 2012

Last spring, Flow Circus offered a Skill Toy Kit Giveaway to interested libraries looking for innovative tween/teen programming. We were amazed by the over 300 entries! We wish we could have given away kits to more people. As a result, we have decided to create a Skill Toy Kit Loaner Program for public and school libraries for 2012.

  • Twelve libraries in the continental US will be selected to host the Skill Toy Kit for 1 month each.

  • The only cost to host libraries will be shipping the kit to the next location on the last day of the month (approximate cost $20-50).

  • Interested libraries should complete this form by December 2nd.

  • The sites selected to host the loaner kit will be contacted by December 9th.

The Skill Toy Kit includes 20 skill toys, instructional materials, and a program guide to help you run skill toy sessions at your library. For more information about the Skill Toy Kit and its contents, visit www.FlowCircus.com/teenkits or contact Dawn@FlowCircus.com.

On March 1st, we announced that we would be giving away a Flow Circus Skill Toy Kit to one lucky public or school library. The kit includes a total of 20 skill toys, instructional materials, and a program guide to help organizations start and maintain a skill toy club.

Thank you to everyone that helped spread the word about the giveaway to your colleagues. We decided to add 2 runner-up prizes to share the fun of skill toys with a few more libraries. The runners-up will each receive a Japanese Kendama for their library.

Now without further ado (drum roll please)......we are please to announce the following winners:

Flow Circus July Update

July 2009

Greetings from Paul

Flow Circus Featured in Creativity Counts at ALA Conference

New Teen Workshops for Libraries

21 New Variety Artists Cultivated!

Fall School & Library Tour Schedule Set

Halfway through the summer and Dawn and I are having more fun than ever. One of the highlights has been working with groups of tweens and teen developing circus skills through workshops, camps, and Skill Toy Programs. Last week we ran 2 camps at Cary Academy here in North Carolina. We enjoy having the opportunity to watch the campers transform throughout the week - a shy child becomes more comfortable in front of peers and an awkward, clumsy child becomes more sure-footed and confident. We love when a parent comments that his or her child comes home each day excited to share the new skills learned in camp.

We are not surprised when we see teens and tweens skipping to our programs.  We do it too.

Playfully yours,

Paul

Balloon & Juggling Workshops at High Point Library

workshop-1

Flow Circus taught 2 workshops to families at High Point Library this weekend. We started the morning with Twisted Fun where everyone learned basic balloon twisting. After mastering the balloon dog, the group showed their creativity & individual style with colorful balloon hats!

The second workshop Juggle Me This provided the participants of all ages with steps for learning how to juggle. It was fun to watch parents and children learning together and to hear the joy in people's voices as they improved! Paul will be back to perform at High Point Library this summer, so keep practicing so you can show us your skills when we return!!
